Capturing Snapshots from Videos in FlipShare

The Snapshot feature in FlipShare allows you to capture multiple video frames simultaneously and save them as images. Please refer to the steps below for instructions on how to capture snapshots from your videos.

NOTE: Snapshots are saved in 640 x 480 pixel (standard resolution) or 1280 x 720 pixel (HD resolution) JPG files. For best results, please save the videos on your computer first to reduce the time it takes to generate the Snapshots.

Step 1:
Click on the FlipShare icon to launch the program. In FlipShare, select the video from which you want to capture a snapshot.

Step 2:
Click on the Snapshot button located at bottom area of the main FlipShare screen.

Step 3:
A Create Snapshots window should now appear on your screen. The image in the center represents the current frame while the 6 smaller images on top and below show the previous and following frames. Simply use the marker to navigate forward or backwards in the video until you see the perfect image you wish to capture.

Step 4:
To capture snapshots, simply drag any of the frames into the gray area on the right. Alternatively, you can also click on theTake Snapshot button.

Step 5:
Once you are ready to generate the snapshots, click .

NOTE: Clicking the save button without having frames in the stack, will only capture the current image in the main frame.

Step 6:
When you save snapshots, shortcuts to them are also placed in a Photos folder in the navigation pane. Clicking on the Snapshots folder displays thumbnails of all the snapshots that have been taken.

NOTE: Snapshots and images from other sources (i.e. imported image files) are found in the Snapshots folder in the Shortcuts section of the Navigation Pane in the older versions of FlipShare.

NEW Updated Editor on BlogSpot

You will see a "new look" when uploading your Flips onto the Blog. BlogSpot has introduced an Updated Editor and will soon be phasing out the uploading format that we have become used to.

Here is the tutorial explaining the new options and what you will be seeing. Some things will look different but the actual process should be faster, give you more options for placement and moving videos and snapshots, and for sizing them as well.

Improved Image Handling

When you upload an image to the new post editor it will appear as a thumbnail in the image dialog box. That way, you can upload several images at once, and then add them into your post at your convenience. The thumbnails will be available until you close the post editor.

When you add an image from the dialog into your post it will be placed at the insertion point instead of at the top of the post.

If you don’t like where an image is in your post, you can drag it around to another spot. If you drag it towards the left side of the editor it will float to the left, likewise for the right, and if you leave it in the center it will be centered. You can drag the image between paragraphs and other block elements. Unlike in the current editor, dragging in the new editor preserves the link to the full-size version of the image.

You can easily resize or remove an image with the image size “bubble.” Click on the image (Firefox 3 users may need to double-click) to bring up the bubble, and resize the image instantly. You can resize any image, including ones added by URL, but if you resize an image that was uploaded through the post editor we resample the image on our servers to keep the download size small.
